33-year-old Hiroko Yuzu (played by Rie Tomosaka) is a busy working woman who has been constantly on the go. Two years ago, yearning for her career, she divorced her husband and has been raising her 6-year-old son Tomoya on her own, without any spare time day and night. One day, the mother and son encounter a strange man dressed as a samurai, who claims to be Anbe Nakajima (played by Ryo Nishikido), a retainer serving the Tokugawa family, who inexplicably time-traveled to modern society. With no one to rely on, Anbe borrows a place to stay at Yuzu's home. This leads to a fierce collision of ancient and modern values, resulting in plenty of laughter. The macho Anbe gradually lets go of his noble samurai persona and takes on the role of a househusband, forming a warming relationship with the mother and son, and eventually achieving wonderful success in this unfamiliar society… The film is adapted from the original work of the same name by Gen Araki.
