Catherine (played by Olivia de Havilland) is a very ordinary girl who, like most of her peers, is somewhat shy and introverted, while secretly nurturing beautiful fantasies about romance and love. By chance, Catherine unexpectedly comes into a large sum of money and transforms into a young wealthy woman, instantly attracting a swarm of men around her, buzzing like flies. Morris (played by Montgomery Clift) is one of them, possessing handsome looks and witty, elegant conversation, making him quite deceptive. Catherine almost falls into the trap he carefully weaves. Fortunately, the clever Catherine ultimately sees through Morris's scheme, preserving her fortune and her purity.
