Mimmi frequently gets into conflicts and trouble in her group of girls, while Emma is constantly confused about whom she is capable of loving. As she prepares for a big competition, Emma has been practicing skating for years but still can't master the toughest moves. Over the course of the upcoming three weeks, the three seem to undergo a series of shaky and spinning moments in time. Making love and falling in love, coming together or separating, opening up or being in a cold war, they continuously rehearse and face setbacks, as if stepping into a youth cycle that occasionally short-circuits. Finnish director Alli Haapasalo explores the emotional characteristics of girls' growth through a diary-like narrative structure, capturing their moments of candor and recurring anxiety, directly yet non-judgmentally. With dynamic cinematography and music, the unique intimacy and tensions of adolescence are vividly portrayed. The three young actors each have distinct personalities, subtly projecting desires, parental and interpersonal dilemmas, repeatedly tossing viewers to the ordering counter, the skating rink, the party dance floor, and the city's lonely nights. As the film dances along, it seems to relive the warmth of youth and perhaps the unfinished trajectories of life.
