Directed by Marco Tullio Giordana, "A Brilliant Life" (2003) is the latest work from the director, who won the Special Award at the 2018 Italian Silver Ribbon Awards. A woman's name is certainly not that of a weak person. Single mother Lena, with her young daughter, finds a caregiver job in a prestigious private nursing home. Even when her boyfriend suggests that he should support the family, she insists on being self-reliant. The job seems ideal, and she gets along well with her colleagues, but there are hidden secrets: a pathological boss addicted to uniform seduction, who exploits employees to fulfill his personal desires under the protection of a priest... Directed by Marco Tullio Giordana, "A Brilliant Life" was conceived before the #MeToo movement stirred waves, making its release timely. Lena seeks justice but is met with a backlash from colleagues and is accused of defamation. However, she is unwilling to endure humiliation and decides to fight back.
