A pair of soon-to-be-separated lovers warm each other; an elderly woman immerses herself in memories of past loves; a pair of playmates fantasizes about immigrating to America to become professional baseball players. In the inland Cuban city of San Antonio de los Baños, time seems to stand still as the emotional worlds of these three groups of characters flow and unfold. Italian director Tommaso Santambrogio expresses his reflections on love and separation within Cuban society in this film. The three groups of characters represent the director's sincere contemplation of the past (the elderly woman), the present (the lovers), and the future (the playmates), as well as a representation of the social landscape of Cuba. The director uses the sound of waves to highlight the relationship between land and sea, employing black and white imagery to subvert people's perceptions of colorful Cuba. The film is in competition in the "Venice Days" parallel section of the 80th Venice Film Festival.
