One morning, a lifeless female corpse appeared in a village ditch. Under police investigation, the wandering years of the deceased Mona (played by Sandrine Bonnaire) were revealed. She traveled with a large backpack, camping out, and cohabited with a down-and-out vagabond, smoking and sleeping together. An old woman’s maid, Yolande, envied the carefree state of Mona and the vagabond, feeling dissatisfied with her boyfriend Paul’s rough demeanor.
