One morning, a lifeless female corpse appeared in a village ditch. Under police investigation, the wandering years of the deceased Mona (played by Sandrine Bonnaire) were revealed. She traveled with a large backpack, camping out, and cohabited with a down-and-out vagabond, smoking and sleeping together. An old woman’s maid, Yolande, envied the carefree state of Mona and the vagabond, feeling dissatisfied with her boyfriend Paul’s rough demeanor. One night, Paul broke in and knocked out the vagabond, prompting Mona to leave without a word. She then encountered a couple who raised livestock, who offered her land and shelter, hoping she would work hard to live a peaceful and steady life. Undeterred, Mona continued on her journey and hitchhiked, meeting Randil, a tree researcher, who briefly helped her before they parted ways. Later, on her journey, Mona also met Az, a grape pruner, and no one knew where her wandering would ultimately lead her...
