The story takes place in the late 1920s, where the obscure literary youth Thomas (Jude Law) arrives in New York, the center of world culture, with his autobiographical novel in his pocket. This novel catches the eye of an editor named Max (Colin Firth), who is known for discovering literary giants like Fitzgerald and Hemingway.
