Professor Abronsius (played by Jack MacGowran), who specializes in vampire research, travels to the Transylvanian mountains in Eastern Europe with his assistant Alfred (played by Roman Polanski) to hunt the terrifying bloodsucking demon. The duo stays at an inn at the foot of a snow-capped mountain, where garlic hangs everywhere, especially in the room of the owner's daughter, Sarah (played by Sharon Tate), which is particularly extravagant.
