Claude Mann plays Fournier, an ordinary office worker who, one day, is taken by his friend Caron (Paul Guers) to a casino to try his luck. To his surprise, he ends up winning a fortune. This windfall sparks Fournier's keen interest in gambling, prompting him to disregard his father's advice and plan to quit his job to try his luck at the famous Angel Bay casino. At the Angel Bay casino, Fournier meets a stunning blonde named Jackie (Jeanne Moreau). Unlike Fournier's casual approach, Jackie invests everything she has into the game; gambling is not only her faith but also her life. As time passes, Fournier and Jackie gradually fall in love. Just as Fournier begins to tire of the numerical games and considers returning to Paris to continue his life, the gambling-addicted Jackie finds herself lost and helpless.
