The life of writer Janet (played by Kerry Fox) is filled with turmoil due to suffering, but it shines through her words. From a young age, she was sensitive and reserved, unable to communicate with others due to her family's poverty, and despite excelling in her studies, she could not find any pride in her childhood. Only by immersing herself in the world of literature could Janet fully release her suppressed body and soul. Fate repeatedly struck her down, first with the tragic deaths of her sister and mother, and then she was misdiagnosed as a psychiatric patient, sent to a mental hospital for eight years of treatment. She used her writing to cherish the memory of her lost loved ones, and her solitary writing became a form of spiritual revelry. Finally, after her works were published, she achieved the fame many dream of and encountered a brief, passionate romance. However, after the chaos of fate, Janet returned to a desolate life, back to her homeland to continue her lonely writing.
