In March 1944, the world was in turmoil due to World War II, and at the same time, children in a small corner of a village in France began their own "war." The children of the neighboring villages of Longueville and Vieux-Havre had always been in conflict, but this time, they came up with a new idea for their "war"—the kids decided to fight over buttons, shoelaces, belts, and so on from each other's clothing. Whoever could strip the other naked and humiliate them would win. They named this conflict "The Button War." "The Button War" was merely a game for the children; who won or lost was not really important. At this time, a Jewish girl named Violette arrived in the village, captivating Lebrac, the "king of the children" from Longueville. But where does she come from? What story is hidden behind her?
