In the Manzhouli Zoo, there is an elephant that sits there every day. A boy stands up for his friend, a bully seeks revenge for his younger brother, and a girl trapped in a predicament struggles to see the elephant, all stuck in the dark crevices of the world. On a bleak winter day, desperate figures collide in asymmetric and unbalanced imagery, exploding the oppressive gloom, spreading wildly within the rough scenery and dim lighting of low-cost production. The author and director Hu Bo (pen name Hu Qian) makes his debut with youthful simplicity and shocking emotion, gaining recognition at the Berlin Film Festival with a nomination in the forum section, yet it stands as a lost puzzle piece that cannot fit into the harmonious mainstream. The inability to see the elephant becomes a shared fate, and Hu Bo's untimely demise has become a regret for this generation.
