Walt (Tom Hanks) is a producer who, due to his daughter Lillian’s (Dendrie Taylor) great love for the novel "Mary Poppins," promises her that he will bring the wonderful story from the book to the screen, allowing more people to experience its joy and beauty. In order to purchase the rights to the novel, Walt approaches the original author, Travers (Emma Thompson). What Walt did not expect was that no amount of persuasion could move this stubborn and headstrong author. Ultimately, it was the declining sales of the novel that reluctantly led Travers to agree to Walt's request. However, for Walt, obtaining the adaptation rights was merely the beginning of immense challenges. By the time the film "Mary Poppins" was finally completed, 20 years had already passed.
