In a small village in Bengal, India, at the beginning of the 20th century. The hardships of life filled the poor families in the village with despair, anxiety, and discord. Harihar wrote countless poems and scripts, but faced rejection everywhere and could not get published. Six years passed, and the condition of Harihar's house deteriorated further, with poverty relentlessly accompanying them. Endless troubles plagued them. When the rich lost something, they blamed Durga for stealing, and although his wife Salbogya could not bear such humiliation, she could only vent her frustration on the children. Harihar hoped to restore their once-proud lineage through fame, but his meager income of eight rupees a month, along with heavy family burdens, prevented him from realizing his ambitious plans, leaving him unable to even feed his family. He had no choice but to seek a way out in another place, going to the city to earn some money through hard work. However, when he returned home, he was met with enormous tragedy: a storm had collapsed their house, and his twelve-year-old daughter Durga had died of illness, leaving Salbogya in tears. Seeing this heartbreaking scene, Harihar had no choice but to lead his wife and child away from their homeland to seek a new life, with only Durga remaining buried there.
