In the solemn royal palace, twelve internal affairs agents named after the zodiac signs are entrusted with the heavy responsibility of personally protecting the emperor. Among them, Gao Tianjiu, nicknamed "Ling Ling Dog" (played by Louis Koo), is an inventor full of whimsical ideas and quick tricks. He frequently accomplishes remarkable feats in the process of protecting the emperor with various "magical tools," but when it comes to his charming and highly skilled fiancée Mei Xiwang (played by Barbie Hsu), "Ling Ling Dog" appears rather dull and unresponsive. To help this "Ling Ling Dog" awaken, Mei Xiwang comes up with a method to test "Ling Ling Dog." In the deep palace, where loyalties and betrayals are hard to discern, hidden dangers lurk. Surrounding the matter of the princess choosing a pawn, various forces secretly conspire, intending to usurp power and eliminate the internal affairs agents led by "Ling Ling Dog," threatening the safety of the emperor and presenting the twelve agents with unprecedented challenges.
