In 1981, 9-year-old Kate lives in a large family in the Irish countryside, often overlooked due to her many siblings. With her mother about to give birth again, Kate is temporarily sent to stay with distant relatives for the summer. She unexpectedly adapts to this environment, where a gentle couple teaches her to connect with nature and reconcile with her quiet self. However, there is a sorrowful secret in this peaceful household. Director Colm Bairead, known for his work in television documentaries, makes a stunning feature film debut, skillfully depicting two vastly different family settings and the girl's transformation from self-doubt and timidity to sweet serenity, subtly showcasing Ireland's history and culture. The film won the Jury Grand Prix in the Generation Kplus section at the 2022 Berlin Film Festival and became the first Irish film nominated for the Oscar for Best International Feature.
