For years, Mo has supported them by binding old books. Meggie is curious about her mother's whereabouts, but her father remains tight-lipped. The lonely girl spends her days immersed in books, letting her imagination run wild. One night, a dirty, evil man (Paul Bettany) breaks into their home, and Mo and Meggie flee to the home of her aunt Eleanor (Helen Mirren). It is here that Meggie finally learns the true reason for her mother’s disappearance and about her father's magical ability. Mo can bring characters from books into the real world, which is the beginning of a disaster...This film is adapted from the first book of the best-selling series by the famous German author Cornelia Funke.
