"Revolution knows no gender, age, or era! The film is based on the real Korean independence movement, featuring the young revolutionary heroine Yoo Kwan-sun as a prototype, witnessing a little-known history. During the Japanese occupation, Korea erupted in the March 1st Movement, where a seventeen-year-old girl took to the streets, leading over two million Koreans in protest, only to be arrested and imprisoned in a women's underground prison, enduring countless humiliations. Instead of silencing herself, she stood up and inspired other prisoners to break the silence, moving from individual awakening to collective awakening, collectively shouting 'Long live Korean independence' in prison. The black-and-white imagery of the prison scenes is strikingly sharp, with everyone resolutely determined: the high walls of the prison can confine the body but cannot imprison the free spirit. Go Ah-sung, who emerged from 'Korean Wave Horror' and gained prominence in 'Train to Busan', delivers a powerful performance as the fierce woman. In the worst of times, let us pay tribute to this heroine and all the martyrs who sacrificed for the cause."
