Stuntman Roy Walker (played by Lee Pace) suffers a severe injury while filming a scene in which he jumps from a bridge on horseback, resulting in paralysis and loss of sensation in his lower body. In his extreme despair, he wishes for nothing more than to end his life. Just when Roy is feeling hopeless, a 5-year-old girl named Alexandra (played by Catinca Untaru), who has been hospitalized for a broken arm, bursts into his world. The two friends, separated by age, soon bond, as Alexandra visits Roy's hospital room daily just to hear him tell the magical story he has created. Roy, who uses the enchanting tale to captivate the little girl, actually intends to use the opportunity to execute his suicide plan... The film won the Special Prize of the Jury - Best Film at the 2007 Berlin Film Festival, Best Film at the Sitges - Catalonian International Film Festival, and Best Screenplay at the 2008 Austin Film Critics Association Awards.
