A strong typhoon strikes Japan. Sōtarō (Takahiro Ōsawa) discovers that his fiancée, Ryuko (Yuki Chiba), has disappeared after leaving behind a number. In his quest to find her, he inadvertently revisits memories from high school, where his younger self (Miku Moriyama) cherished his first love, Aki (Masami Nagasawa). This is a deep-seated pain he has hidden away. They were classmates, and Aki, a talented runner, gradually developed feelings for the clumsy Sōtarō. They submitted pieces together to a radio show, exchanged recorded diaries, traveled together, and their pure love brought them immense happiness. However, their joy was short-lived when Aki discovered she had cancer. Despite the torment of the illness, it did not hinder their relationship; they even took a beautiful set of wedding photos together. Unfortunately, Aki passed away not long after. It turns out that Sōtarō’s fiancée left because she learned about these past events, but after hearing the whole story, she was deeply moved and decided to go with Sōtarō to the center of the world Aki had most wanted to visit.
