On the distant Mount Crumpit, there lies a town called Whoville, where the townspeople's favorite holiday, Christmas, is just around the corner. The town is adorned with decorations and filled with festive cheer, and everyone is immersed in the joy of preparing for Christmas. However, on a garbage mountain north of Whoville lives a "monster" that everyone fears—the Grinch (played by Jim Carrey). He leads a reclusive life, accompanied only by his dog; he is narrow-minded, with a heart that is only one-fourth the size of a normal person's; he hates Whoville and despises Christmas even more. Often playing tricks on the townspeople, he meets a little girl named Cindy (played by Taylor Momsen) during a chaotic event in Whoville. This Christmas coincides with the one-thousandth anniversary of Whoville's founding, and every household is preparing for this grand Christmas feast. Cindy invites the Grinch to the town's party, but a misunderstanding causes the Grinch to leave in anger. He decides to take revenge on the townspeople, and on Christmas Day, he disguises himself as Santa Claus and a reindeer, quietly sneaking into Whoville…
