In the increasingly arid grasslands of Inner Mongolia, husband Bater (played by Bater) becomes disabled in both legs while digging a well, and wife Tuya (played by Yu Nan) is hardworking, kind, and strong-willed. She single-handedly shoulders the family's burdens and cares for the children, but her prolonged labor leads to lumbar spine degeneration, posing a risk of lower limb paralysis. To no longer delay Tuya, the bedridden Bater decides to divorce, and Tuya has no choice but to agree. However, she insists on a condition for her remarriage: her new husband must help support Bater. Thus, Tuya begins a difficult journey to find a husband, and the additional condition causes many men who come to propose to back down. Neighbor Senge (played by Senge) is traditionally afraid of his wife, yet his wife often leaves him for other men and disappears. He develops feelings for Tuya... This film won the Golden Bear at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival in 2007.
