In 1949, a large number of mainland residents flooded into Hong Kong, and a pair of young brothers sought a livelihood in this chaotic world. They suffered bullying from local ruffians at the docks, but fortunately, they came under the protection of the "Wang Laoji," a leader of the Chaozhou gang, who took them as adopted sons, naming them Ma Shaolin (played by Zheng Zeshi) and Ma Shihao (played by Lyu Liangwei). The Ma brothers then helped Wang Laoji manage the "Zi Hua Stand." Years later, now grown, Shihao became discontent with their adoptive father's struggling business and, with his brother, contacted outsiders to take over the stand, leveraging the power of newspaper publicity to open new avenues. Meanwhile, Ma Shaolin invested in the newspaper industry, achieving both fame and fortune, becoming the chairman of the newspaper board. In 1968, the brothers became involved in drugs, entangling themselves in a violent conflict with Hong Kong's major drug lord, Jin Ya Ju, which led to the deaths of their adoptive father and many brothers.
