75-year-old Momoko lives alone in the suburbs of Tokyo. To avoid an arranged marriage, she ran away to Tokyo at the age of 20, and for the past 55 years, she has happily built a family on her own terms. After her husband’s sudden death, her plans for a peaceful old age were disrupted. However, as a solitary elderly woman, Momoko unexpectedly finds three spiritual companions, regaining her former vitality and re-examining her life through intertwined memories and reality. This new film by acclaimed Japanese director Shuichi Okita is adapted from the autobiographical novel of the same name by 63-year-old Japanese writer Chisako Wakatake. Veteran actress Yuko Tanaka plays the lead role of Momoko, while Yuu Aoi portrays the younger version of Momoko aged 20 to 34.
