Zhao Fu (played by Lau Ching-Wan) was originally an arrogant young master, with a widowed mother who was eager for her son to settle down. Zhao Ji (played by Wong Cho-Lam) is Zhao Fu's cousin and the second heir of the Zhao family. Zhao Ji has always been dissatisfied with Zhao Fu, so he persuades Wang Di (played by Wu Qianlian), who performs on the street, to marry Zhao Fu in order to deceive him for the betrothal gifts.
