The story tells of the independent fighters in Harbin, far from their homeland, who fought desperately to reclaim their homeland from falling into the hands of the Japanese Empire in 1909.  Hyun Bin will portray An Jung-geun, a lieutenant general and advisor of the Korean Righteous Army, while Park Jung-min will play Yoo Deok-soon, a fighter who prioritized the country's independence over leaving behind a name. Jo Woo-jin will depict Kim Sang-hyun, an independence fighter who works alongside An Jung-geun (played by Hyun Bin) to restore their lost homeland. Jeon Yeo-been will play the role of Mrs. Kong, a member of the independence army, and Yoo Jae-myung will play An Jung-geun's aide, Choi Jae-hyung. Park Hoon will portray Morita Yu, representing the Japanese Empire. The film will be shot on location in Latvia and Mongolia.  On October 26, 1909, An Jung-geun successfully assassinated the culprit behind the invasion of Korea, former Japanese Prime Minister Ito Hirobumi, in Harbin, China, and was arrested on the spot. The Japanese Kwantung Governor-General's local court sentenced An Jung-geun to death by hanging, and he was executed in Lüshun, China, on March 26, 1910. An Jung-geun is referred to as "Patriotic Martyr" in North Korea and "Righteous Person" in South Korea. The An Jung-geun Memorial Hall opened in Harbin, China, on January 19, 2014.
