Inspector Cao (Cao Dahua) aims to turn the washed-up gang leader Dai Gedah (Lu Haipeng) into a police informant to testify against the gang leader Wu Erqi (Wang Qing). He designs a plan to force four private detectives, known as the "Four Fortune Stars"—Rhinoceros Skin (Feng Cuifan), Da Sheng Di (Wu Yaohan), Huata Bing (Miao Qiaowei), and Luohanguo (Zeng Zhiwei)—to go undercover. Cao also sends his daughter, Senior Assistant Banana (Liu Jialing), to apply as a maid to secretly protect them. The Four Fortune Stars break into prison to rescue Dai Gedah and go to find his daughter Mina, just as Wu Erqi is attempting to drug her. They save her, and Dai Gedah, grateful to the Four Fortune Stars, agrees to be an informant against Wu Erqi, but Wu Erqi manages to evade blame. Inspector Cao then arranges for Banana to fake her death at the hands of Wu, sparking the Four Fortune Stars' desire for revenge. In the end, the Four Fortune Stars team up with the police to capture Wu Erqi and eliminate his gang.
