Da Igarashi was born in a small port town in Miyagi Prefecture and raised by his loving deaf-mute parents. Being his mother’s "translator" was a part of his daily routine. However, gradually, he could no longer endure the unusual looks from those around him, and a gap formed between him and his mother. Finally, at the age of 20, he ran away from home and went to Tokyo… Director Miho Oka's 2014 film "Just Shine There" won first place in the Film Quarterly's annual top ten and represented Japan in the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Afterward, she temporarily left film production, and this film marks her return after nine years, focusing on the identity dilemma of minority groups and the everyday emotions between parents and children. Ryo Yoshizawa plays the protagonist who struggles to navigate between the "sound" and "silent" worlds, with impressive performances in sign language that feature minimal dialogue.
