Annie was disfigured in a fire during her infancy and was subsequently raised by a kind adoptive mother. Over the course of more than thirty years, she underwent numerous surgeries. Now, as she stands on the brink of a new life, she resolutely decides to travel to the world’s capital of cosmetic surgery—Seoul, South Korea—for another facial transformation. She consults with Dr. Kim, a renowned cosmetic surgeon, about the possible directions and risks of her surgery; at the same time, she interviews several girls about their views on the cosmetic procedures they are about to undergo. Annie discovers that in South Korea, many girls who are already beautiful are willing to undergo risky facial modifications to adhere to the so-called "mainstream aesthetics," which is unacceptable for Annie, who has almost been "disfigured."
