In the summer frost, grievances are hard to dispel. Every place has its unforgettable bloody anniversary. For Zhang Jiaan, it is May 13, 1969, when Malays and Chinese engaged in full-scale armed conflict in Malaysia after the elections, resulting in many casualties. A little girl, watching a Cantonese opera, almost falls victim but narrowly escapes the racial massacre by hiding backstage. Half a century later, having married far away, she encounters the elections again, with her memories lingering, the old spirit unbroken, as time and space intertwine over a nameless lonely grave. The light and shadow blur the lines of reality and illusion, leading one to inevitably wander down a wrong path. Based on true events, the film combines magical realism with folk beliefs, traditional opera arts, and historical memory, compelling the audience to confront wounds that may never heal. Opening film of the Golden Horse Film Festival.
