The life of the gang member La Jun (played by 吴镇宇) is a tragic tale of betrayal and being sold out. Once naive, he was lured into the underworld, fell under the tutelage of a ruthless gang lord, and was betrayed by friends, leading to numerous troubles. Finally, La Jun broke away from darkness and joined the gang of his mentor, yet still faced betrayal from friends and lovers. After falling out with the boss, he fled to Japan to marry and have children, only for the assassin group to brutally kill his pregnant wife. Thus, the ruthless nature of La Jun today stems from a series of forced circumstances that drove him to desperation. When the dying La Jun escapes from death, his narrative takes a complete turn: he is inherently violent, surviving every crime he commits, mingling in the underworld with despicable means and methods. He is utterly contemptible, with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
