Professional hitman Jack Carter has been navigating the underworld of New York, rarely connecting with his brother who lives in Los Angeles. Upon returning home for his brother’s funeral, he feels a deep sense of guilt and soon senses that there’s more to his brother's death. Through investigation, he discovers several suspicious individuals connected to his brother, including a beautiful sister-in-law, her daughter, the brother's boss, a mysterious woman, and a millionaire. In the end, the killer is brought to justice, but Carter pays the ultimate price with his life.
