Fan Jiahshu (played by Kuan Shan) is a wealthy young man born with a silver spoon in his mouth. While studying in Beijing, he encounters a singer named Shen Fengxian (played by Li Lihua). Although their social statuses are vastly different, Fan Jiahshu falls deeply in love with Fengxian. When Fan Jiahshu's mother falls seriously ill, he hurriedly returns home to visit her, but at this critical moment, Fengxian is married off to the warlord Zhang Dashuai by her uncle. Zhang Dashuai, tempted by Fengxian's beauty, abuses her after she refuses to submit. Guan Xiuzhu (played by Ling Bo) is a poor performer who deeply loves Fan Jiahshu. Unable to bear seeing him in pain and despair, Guan Xiuzhu secretly infiltrates Zhang Dashuai's mansion to help Fan Jiahshu and Fengxian meet.
