Dr. Julia Kelly (Nicole Kidman), from the White House's anti-nuclear smuggling intelligence division, suspects that this nuclear incident is not an accidental mishap. To investigate the circumstances of the explosion and uncover the truth behind it, Julia teams up with Army Special Forces Lieutenant Thomas Weir (George Clooney) to conduct the inquiry. During their arduous investigation, they stumble upon a shocking conspiracy. A nuclear terrorist impersonating a politician has smuggled a nuclear warhead into the United States, intending to destroy the United Nations headquarters in New York.
