Mark (played by Sam Neill) is left confused when his wife Anna (played by Isabelle Adjani) mysteriously leaves home without any explanation. He suspects that Anna may have an affair with a man named Heinrich (played by Heinz Bennent), only to discover that Heinrich is also searching for the long-lost Anna.
