"The Swarm" is a global environmental thriller based on the work of Frank Schätzing, telling the story of abnormal behaviors of marine animals in today's world and the chaos they ignite. Millions of strange worms suddenly appear on the seabed of the North Sea, drilling through frozen methane and threatening the stability of the entire continental shelf. Masses of mussels hinder the maneuverability of large vessels. Toxic jellyfish, lobsters, and whales begin to attack humans along the world's coasts. Global scientists and military forces gather to confront the greatest challenge humanity faces. They eerily discover that we are not the only intelligent species on this planet and that there exists a collective intelligence in the deep ocean that has been devastated by civilization and has decided to retaliate.
