It is a gloomy afternoon in an empty campus, where Armand's mother and Jon's mother are caught in a desperate struggle, having exhausted all means. Soon, madness, desire, and obsession intertwine. Where the truth lies, we do not know. The audience begins to realize that the focus of the narrative has shifted from the two children to the adult world. The director makes extensive use of close-up shots of the actors' faces to create a tense narrative feeling, while Renate Reinsve, who won Best Actress at Cannes for "The Worst Person in the World," delivers a stellar performance in the film. In this directorial debut by Hafdan Ulmann Troue, it is difficult to find the stylistic influences of grandfather Bergman and Liv Ullmann, as it leans closer to the temperament of contemporary Nordic directors. The film is nominated for the Un Certain Regard section at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and has won the Golden Camera Award for Best First Film.
