The 90-year-old Naoki Prize-winning author Aiko Sato has now laid down her pen, living a laid-back life with her daughter and granddaughter. One day, a middle-aged editor invites her to write an essay. Aiko initially declines his proposal, but he visits her every day with gifts, and she eventually gets moved by his enthusiasm. The editor reignites his passion for work, but in doing so, neglects his family, leading his wife to file for divorce. Aiko's essay collection becomes a bestseller, loved by many. She and the editor become a tacit working duo, but how will they deal with their own lives?
