Maggie, the editor-in-chief of an American women's fashion magazine, is committed to perfection and change, aiming to lead American women's fashion. However, the magazine is currently facing a shortage of models due to a lack of "thoughtful" female protagonists. Maggie and her team, including photographer Dick (played by Fred Astaire), visit a bookstore for a photoshoot, where they discover that the biggest win of the trip is Miss Jo Stockton (played by Audrey Hepburn), a bookstore clerk who promotes empathic theory. Jo initially has no interest in modeling, but agrees to participate considering the opportunity to meet the empathic philosopher Professor Fleuri in Paris. Dick is inspired by Jo, leading to the creation of a stunning series of works, and their relationship begins to develop. Soon, Jo gets her wish to meet the professor, which makes Dick quite uneasy. After a heated argument, Jo storms off, prompting Dick and Maggie to pull out all the stops to win her back and save the show...
