The film's plot is based on a true story, telling the combat journey of Kazakh scientist, writer, and public figure Adi Sharipov—from his first participation in the war to suffering severe injuries. During World War II, he served as a partisan in the forests of Belarus for 28 months, and his comrades referred to him as the Kazakh Sasha. The film was commissioned by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan and completed with the assistance of the National Film Production Center of the country.
