The film focuses on the Battle of Iron Yuan. In May 1951, the 63rd Army of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army had just concluded a month-long battle and was ordered to enter the Iron Yuan battlefield, facing direct confrontation with four UN Army divisions. The soldiers of the Volunteer Army fought bravely, ultimately forcing the enemy to the negotiation table. To accomplish their mission, the soldiers of the 189th Division of the 63rd Army divided into smaller units, embedding themselves like nails into their positions! On the position of the 1st Battalion, Li Xiang (played by Zhu Yilong), the battalion political instructor, made a vow of "not retreating another step" and steadfastly defended the position; Amidst the torrential gunfire, Li Mo Yin (played by Xin Baicheng) reunited with his family on the battlefield. A key and a reunion meal in the trench brought this family, separated by war, even closer together. In order to create better weapons for the new China, returning military industry expert Wu Ben Zhang (played by Zhu Yawen) entered the battlefield under the protection of Zhang Xiaoheng (played by Oho). As a guard, Zhang Xiaoheng firmly believed that protecting Wu Ben Zhang meant safeguarding the future of the motherland.
