Adapted from Jeff Hobbs' biographical work "The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace" The protagonist of this book is a boy named Robert Peace, who grew up in the slums of Newark, New Jersey. He was admitted to Yale University as a biology major, but at the age of thirty, he died violently on the streets in a drug gang brawl. The story is narrated from the perspective of Robert's Yale roommate, recounting this tale of someone who seemingly rises from a lower-class background yet cannot escape a tragic fate. The story of an inner-city Newark kid who attends Yale yet ultimately succumbs to harsh economic realities and the demons of his past.
