The story begins with the murder of a 13-year-old boy, Masaki. His body is brutally discarded under a bridge in the center of town, and the small town is soon enveloped in anxiety and fear. Masaki's classmates, Haru, Akira, Saku, and Naoya, suspect that the culprit is an eerie old man, Onsan, whom Masaki often visited. They storm his house, and in a scuffle, one of them ends up killing Onsan. He then sets Onsan's house on fire, and the incident comes to a close. Twenty-two years later, Akira, now a detective, returns to his hometown following his father's death. Haru, Akira, and Saku reunite, but a boy's body is found at the same location, prompting the doors to the memories of the incident long buried in their hearts to begin to open.
