The film revolves around three boxers from different backgrounds. Akira Tsuneyoshi (played by Mirai Moriyama) has become a marginal defeated boxer after experiencing the peak of his professional career. He has always been seen as a "soft persimmon" that boosts others' confidence, often losing himself and contemplating giving up boxing. After hitting rock bottom, he wakes up and ultimately returns to the ring in search of the meaning of life; Ryota Omura (played by Takumi Kitamura) is a young boxer burdened with secrets. Abandoned by his parents in childhood, he took the path of rebellion and delinquency, but his shattered life gains new vitality through boxing, becoming unstoppable as he steps into the ring for the first time; Shun Miyaki (played by Ryo Katsuji) is a comedic performer from a "star family". Under the doubts of his father, he loses himself and cannot find his place. He participates in a boxing match due to a television program's special planning, attempting to prove himself and win through boxing while hiding behind a mask of laughter and jokes. The film "Defeated: Adversity" mainly focuses on the duel between Akira Tsuneyoshi and Shun Miyaki. Originally, the two had no intersecting life trajectories, but they find a common ground due to a special planning of a television program. Both determined to find a glimmer of hope and a breakthrough from adversity on the boxing stage at their life's low points. Always hiding behind the mask of a comedic performer, Shun longs to find his place in the boxing ring, searching for the value of his existence through every powerful punch he throws. Even if he falls in a disgraceful manner, he grits his teeth, stands up, continues to fight, and ultimately earns the applause and recognition of everyone. Meanwhile, Akira Tsuneyoshi, who has already faced cold eyes from those around him, seems to sink into deeper despair and confusion. Should he continue or give up? What is the true meaning of boxing?
