The film is adapted from a manga of the same name. The socially anxious novelist Takadai Maki (played by Aragaki Yui) finds herself unable to ignore her late sister's orphan, Tanigumi Asahi (played by Hayase Ikki), at her sister and brother-in-law's funeral, where relatives are pushing responsibility away from each other. Consequently, she decides to adopt Asahi. However, after bringing her niece home, the socially awkward Maki realizes she's not suited to live with anyone. In contrast, Asahi, who is unfamiliar with her, candidly accepts Maki, who is "an adult that doesn't seem like an adult." Thus, the two begin their cohabitation life...
