At the end of 1982, the naive boy Chen Xiaolu saw a television for the first time at his friend Duoduo's house. Duoduo's assumption of superiority and casual channel switching hurt Xiaolu's strong sense of pride. After returning home in a bad mood, Xiaolu encountered his blind grandfather Old Jiu at the supply and marketing cooperative and overheard a conflict. After the recording, Xiaolu reconciled with Duoduo, and Old Jiu also buried the hatchet with his apprentice Chen Quanyou. When school started, a live performance of the suona solo "March of the Volunteers" echoed at the flag-raising ceremony of the village elementary school.
