Directed by Federico Fellini, "Orchestra Rehearsal" captures the rehearsal situation of a symphony orchestra, presenting a rather ironic atmosphere filled with diverse scenarios. It showcases everything but the harmony and joy typically associated with a symphony orchestra; the frictions and disagreements among the members symbolize the norm of human society. In the film, the conductor emerges as a kind of 'god-like' figure. Through examining the various joys and sorrows of the musicians, the interactions of characters in this unique setting become a microcosm of human society. The music in the film was composed by Nino Rota, Fellini's long-time collaborator, whose work adds considerable color to the film.
