Shearman (Tom Hanks) is a financial elite working on Wall Street, with a lucrative job, a charming wife, and a life of dignity as he frequents high-end places in his suit every day. He seems to be the epitome of success. However, Shearman has his secrets; he has been unfaithful to his wife and has a mistress. One day, while meeting his mistress as usual, they accidentally hit a child while driving on the highway. Fearing that his infidelity and whereabouts would be exposed, Shearman decides to flee the scene of the accident. However, a cunning and greedy reporter witnesses everything and takes down Shearman's license plate number. From that moment on, Shearman's life is completely changed.
