32-year-old Lauren Cullen (Christina Ricci) and her husband Russell (Brendan Fletcher) move into a technologically advanced new apartment. Recently traumatized by the loss of their child and suffering from bipolar disorder, Lauren is pleased with the apartment's security surveillance system, but soon notices something is off. She suspects that the building's owner is secretly manipulating the residents, while her husband believes it's all in her imagination. Lauren begins to investigate the company that built the apartment on her own and hires a helper—a conspiracy theorist named Vaughn Shasfield (John Cusack). Vaughn believes the apartment is a testing ground, with the residents being unwitting guinea pigs in a massive brainwashing scheme. As the investigation deepens, Lauren faces life-threatening dangers...
