Release Date: August 5, 1989 Duration: 109 minutes Box Office: 1.85 million viewers Plot This time, Tora San steps beyond national borders and arrives in Vienna, known as the "City of Art," leaving behind a romantic story in this charming land. The encounter begins when a company employee, Sakaguchi, is rescued from the tracks after attempting to take his own life due to work pressure and illness. After being saved, he decides to follow Tora San on his travels and buys a plane ticket to Vienna for Tora San. However, Tora San shows little interest in Vienna; attractions like the Royal Art Museum and Mozart mean nothing to him. As a result, Sakaguchi goes alone. While waiting, Tora San boards the tour bus of guide Kumiko Egami, who finds an elderly woman living abroad to help Tora San return to the inn where he is staying. They become acquainted. When Kumiko first arrived, it was the elderly woman who helped her. Now, Tora San feels a sense of home with her. Kumiko, yearning for her hometown but worried about finding work when she returns, decides, with Tora San's encouragement, to go back with them. However, faced with her lover's pleading, she ultimately decides to stay in a foreign land with the person she loves for the rest of her life. Roaming around the world, Tora San experiences the charm of his hometown while abroad; he doesn't want to keep traveling endlessly, as he can never forget his roots. However, upon returning to Japan, he picks up his luggage and sets off again.
